Made locally, here in San Francisco, these versatile sashes are cleverly designed: With an open slot in the center, aimed towards your middle or off to the side, wrap one end around and through the slot then tie either in a long sash style, a bow or wrap again and tie in a knot. Any simple black dress is instantly transformed. These will add elegance to a simple white blouse over wide leg pants so you can go from the office to a fabulous night out in an instant! The silks are made using piece silk, meaning the silk worms go free before the silk is harvested.
These are all stitched trupunto style so that the sash lies flat. Custom colors can also be ordered.

KAREN CALDWELL: Born and raised in Los Angeles, clothing designer Karen Caldwell had Hollywood glamour imprinted on her DNA. Her grandmother--an accomplished dancer and choreographer working for MGM and Walt Disney Studios--was friends with Oscar-winning costume designer Edith Head. As a child, Caldwell would frequently visit her grandmother's Hollywood Hills home. There it was easy to let her imagination run wild, diving into her grandmother's immense wardrobe. Making her own clothes was a hobby she started in childhood. As an adult she became an avid collector of vintage clothes from greats like Oleg Cassini, Christian Dior, and Cristobal Balenciaga. Through deconstructing vintage pieces and re-working them, Caldwell gave herself a hands-on understanding of apparel design, construction, and textiles.
