Recyled Glass Stones necklace with Palm Wood

JEWELRY BY MATT. Self-taught designer Matthew Swope began to develop his creative palate as an art history student at Columbia University. Continuing to refine his tastes, Swope then starting working as a buyer for the Comme des Garçons boutique in Soho, there becoming thoroughly conversant in the tongue of highly modern, inventive fashion design. After holding posts at a panoply of top-tier fashion houses and producing a line of custom, reworked vintage shirts, the designer shifted his focus to jewelry design in 2004. The resulting line, Jewelry by Matt, gathers its inspiration from the natural identity and form of the objects used, their transformation into jewelry following an organically creative process. Refusing to take himself altogether too seriously, though, Swope injects a generous dose of his signature bold irreverence into each piece.
