LUMETE EYEWEAR: Lumete frames are handmade with traditional methods and materials that have been used in handcrafted eyewear for close to a century. The material is called zyl acetate, also referred to as cellulose acetate or simply, acetate (short for zylonite). Lumete frames are carved out of richly hued blocks of zyl acetate, some of which have multiple layers or embedded patterns, and then polished to a beautiful shine. All Lumete lenses are made from CR-39 material, which is allyl diglycol carbonate (ADC). This material has superior optical quality, comparable to glass, while being lightweight.
