Kate Middleton, British Style Icon

The celebration of Brit Week continues, and if we’re going to talk British style, there is one standout member of the Royal Family we absolutely must mention: Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Or, as we all like to call her, Kate. The world is smitten with this stylish woman, and we agree — she is a timeless beauty. See how Kate goes from a royal affair to casual chic, effortlessly styled to a T all the way.

A Royal Affair — Kate and the Queen are a pretty pair in their head-to-toe perfection. Note Kate’s color-coordinated accessories. The peplum waist is cinched with a black belt, accentuating her lovely figure and tidying up the look even more. Try this look stateside with a single-tone dress, black headband, black pumps and a waist-defining belt like this one:

Polished Professional — A tasteful, fitted frock in a simple, gray color is entirely appropriate for a royal event at a school. Kate’s minimal accessories work well since this dress has an embellished neckline. Try this outfit with a modest dress that has a basic neckline, black pumps and a statement-making but simple necklace like this one:

Casual Chic — For a day at a park with a group of hockey players, the Duchess of Cambridge sure knows how to dress. Her colorful skinny jeans and basic tee are dressed up with a maritime-inspired blazer and long, pretty scarf. This look is totally ready for stateside style and is a perfect way to make those trendy jeans for spring more versatile. Try it with this extra-large, hand-dyed scarf:

BritWeek: an Accessorizing How-To and Contest

BritWeek is here, and we are incredibly honored to be a part of this special event! Select stores and boutiques across San Francisco were chosen to participate in this celebration of British style in the States, and we are tickled pink to join in on the fun. We’ll be sharing our favorite British style inspiration and honoring our British designers. (Also, read on for a fun contest running through Friday this week!)

In celebration of BritWeek, we delved into British style and emerged inspired. While neon brights, major metallics and crazy colorblocking may be all the rage stateside, the way these polished, royal ladies present themselves is undeniably fashionable. At the Royal Wedding, headpieces reigned style supreme. While some of the toppers could seem a bit outrageous with their feathery plumes and not-so-face-framing shapes, note the impeccably matched colors and the way the hats clearly express each woman’s personal style. While we do love the independent fashionista, upholding traditions does hold a place near and dear to our hearts. These iconic women got creative while keeping with British tradition — and we love it.

The Royal Maundy Service was another great display of the Royal Family’s style. The Queen’s vibrant pop of aqua with her buttons and adorned brim add a youthful vibe to her otherwise regal ensemble. Princess Beatrice is a vision in navy, but her edgy netting and decadent floral display on her chic headpiece show her true colors — making her royal ones look even better.

Get inspired by the coordinated looks of these women and try a refined look. You never know when your next fashion inspiration will call!
